Coloma Storytelling

Storytelling Session in Coloma at the American River Resort.

Gordon gave his annual Coloma storytelling presentation to school children on the importance of getting an education and developing life skills.  He emphasized the similarities between how children grow up today and how they grew up in the past, and how critical it was and is to learn the necessary skills for survival.

The children were well-prepared for the talk, having been briefed on the Native population of El Dorado County by their teachers.

They asked questions, interacted with Gordon as he told stories and gave analogies, and they stayed focused on the main theme of the presentation throughout the 2-hour talk.

Afterward, they were eager to have their pictures taken with Gordon.  In all, it was a memorable experience for them, and Gordon enjoyed it also.

He gave the children some lessons about childhood and survival.

He also told them stories about animals native to this area.

The children were very attentive and asked many questions.
